In recent years, there has been increasing evidence of the effects of greenhouse gas emissions, desertification, water pollution, air pollution, ozone damage, surface soil damage and the extinction of species, alongside issues in waste management. It’s estimated that over two million sea birds and over one hundred thousand sea mammals die each year because of the garbage and waste that people discard.
As well, over ten million acres of rain forest, which protects rare species on the planet, disappear annually. Seeing the fast draining of natural resources as well as the destruction of natural habitats, leaders from every nation and motivated people are raising awareness and hope to slow down the speed and degree of degradation in nature through international regulations. Therefore, in order to gain recognition, status and competitive advantage, it is crucial that we implement environmental education. Only when Taiwan establishes an image of green can it survive globally.
